Research Interests:

  • Computational mechanics, fracture mechanics, computational structural dynamics and acoustics

  • The boundary element method (see An Introduction to the BEM), especially the fast multipole and adaptive cross approximation BEM (FastBEM) for solving large-scale engineering problems

  • Large-scale, multi-scale and multi-physics modeling of composites, nanomaterials, and biomaterials

  • Large-scale modeling of acoustic and elastic wave propagation problems with the BEM

  • BEM software development (FastBEM software)

Teaching Interests:

  • Introductory courses in engineering mechanics (Statics, Dynamics and Vibration)

  • Solid Mechanics, Elasticity, Fracture Mechanics, Elastodynamics, Energy Methods in Mechanics

  • Finite Element Method, Boundary Element Method, Computational Acoustics
